Last night, I packed my new skates and headed down to the Natrel Rink at Harbourfront. I laced them up and took to the ice.

It was only after a few seconds of wobbling and then some very tentative steps that I started to put things together.

I haven’t skated since before my crash. I thought I had, but I most certainly have not. As such, it’s almost like learning to skate again. I had to re-learn walking 6 years ago, so this isn’t all that surprising. Everything to do with my left leg is very dodgy. It’s something to work on, for sure.

I forgot what it’s like to skate outside where the ice is much colder than in arenas. The surface is a lot harder and less forgiving.

My butt is sore today, but I think I’m gonna spend a lot of time on the ice this winter.
